Molly Seidel and Abbey D'Agostino Finish First and Second in First Races Back From Injury at B.A.A. Mayor's CupBy Adam Kopet Competing for the first time in months, both Molly Seidel and Abbey D'Agostino raced well Sunday at the B.A.A. Mayor's Cup cross country meet in Franklin Park in Boston. Seidel, making her professional debut for Saucony, won the 5-kilometer race in 16:18. Her last race came at Stanford in March while still competing for Notre Dame. D'Agostino made her return to racing more than a year after she injured her knee, including tearing her ACL, in the prelims of the 5,000 meters at the Rio Olympics. Her time of 16:48 was good for second, but Chelsea Blaase was only one second back, making for a close finish. Both Seidel and D'Agostino are scheduled to compete Nov. 4 in the USATF 5K Championships in New York City. Information on how to view the USATF 5K Championships is available at USATF.TV. |
