Hi everyone! As December approaches, I think it's safe to say that for most of us, cross country season is officially over. It's been a busy past few weeks for the Florida running community, from States, to the FACA All-Star Meet, and finally to Nike and Foot Locker. Which ever races you ran, I hope you succeeded and met your goals.

But, if not, no need to fret. Track season is right around the corner. After a disappointing cross country season, this season of track will be my very last chance for redemption. However, it's important to keep in mind that track season is still about 3 months away. After the conclusion of cross season, it's no surprise that many runners can't wait to start training for track. But, although I am pumped for track too, I for one didn't immediately jump into grueling workouts and tiring doubles. Instead, I'm enjoying the off-season, something I feel like many runners forget to do.

Taking a break between seasons has always been something I needed to do. It allows time for your body to relax, and most importantly heal. It gives you an opportunity to finally go to that sleepover you've been missing out on because of morning practice. It gives you a chance to actually sleep in on the weekends, like a normal teenager. It lets you enjoy other activities, such as swimming, biking, and weight training.

Believe it or not, this break is what prepares me most for track training. After a few weeks of down time, I want to go back to practice. I want to work hard. I want to do the grueling workouts and tiring doubles. Of course, it's always a process getting back into shape after taking time off. However, I believe that the process of building back up, will lead to a stronger and healthier you, and therefore you will surpass the level you were running at before, and be in prime shape come track season.

In the end, when it comes down to it, there's a time to relax and there's a time to work hard. I hope that all of you runners out there take this time to relax, and then, comeback and work harder than you ever have before.

Thank you so much to DyeStat Florida for the opportunity to blog through the off-season and through track! I can't wait to share my last high school season with you all!
